Cricket Bats

Was there any sense of politics in the MCC's decision (the real MCC) to ban Ricky Ponting's cricket bat?

Why should a graphite bat not be allowed? We should go back to the days of wooden tennis rackets.

Maybe they think they can retain the Ashes this way.

It shouldn't be allowed because it's just not cricket. Pro Baseball in the States doesn't allow Aluminium bats. However, Punter's bat isn't really made from graphite. It's only got a Carbon Fiber sticker on the back which improves durability.

The decision is bull but I can understand why they want to stunt innovation in the games equipment, we don't want it turning out like golf.

By the way your comment about the "real MCC"... that might be true but they weren't the ones to host the first test match. Melbourne's MCC was... Tough to get more real than that.
